Aerial material is already cleared
Swedish law requires a dissemination permit, spridningstillstånd, from Lantmäteriet before aerial images and video of Sweden may be published, shared or sold. Processing currently takes months in high season.
The aerial material in this catalogue has already been reviewed and approved by Lantmäteriet. The review applies to the material itself, not to the buyer, so you do not need to have it reviewed or apply for a permit of your own.
Payment: card, Apple Pay, Klarna, or invoice for companies and returning customers. Delivery: download link immediately on purchase. VAT: Swedish VAT is added where applicable. Reverse charge applies to business customers in other EU countries with a valid VAT number.
2. Licence Agreement
2.1 Parties and material
Northpix is the licensor. Northpix is a trade name of Brightnest Studios AB, org.nr 559272-4339, Kyrkogatan 16, 972 32 Luleå, which is the legal entity bound by this agreement. Everywhere else in this agreement and on the site, the licensor is referred to as Northpix.
“Material” means the image or video file licensed to you. “You” means the individual or legal entity named in the order.
Northpix licences the material on behalf of the contributing creator under a written agreement with that creator. Copyright remains with the creator. Northpix is your sole counterparty under this agreement.
2.2 Common terms
Each licence is non-exclusive, worldwide and perpetual. There is no time limit and no renewal.
You may edit, crop, colour grade, retime and combine the material with other content.
You may let employees, freelancers and suppliers work with the material on your behalf, provided they are bound by these terms and do not keep it for other use.
One licence covers one image or one clip, granted per item, not per project.
Internal and Commercial are both royalty-free: you pay once, and no further payment is due per use, per impression or per print run. Royalty-free describes the payment model, not the scope. Commercial covers public use within the limits in 2.4, across unlimited projects and productions, for your own use or for one end client. Internal uses the same payment model but the narrower scope set out in 2.3, and may not be published publicly. A Custom licence is granted by quote and may be time-limited; it is not royalty-free in the same sense.
2.3 Internal — 1 490 SEK
For material that is not published publicly and reaches only your own organisation, or one named recipient in a pitch.
Permitted: internal meetings, training and onboarding material, intranet, staff communication, board and shareholder material, internal presentations, and pitch, tender or concept material sent to one named prospective client.
Not permitted: any public website, any social media account, any advertising, any screen or print visible to the public, customer portals, and any distribution to the public.
If pitch material is approved and goes into production, a Commercial or Custom licence must be obtained before publication. The Internal fee is deducted.
2.4 Commercial — 2 990 SEK
For public use, commercial and non-commercial, in your own and your client’s media, within these limits:
| Use | Limit |
|---|---|
| Your own websites, apps, social media accounts, newsletters, presentations | No limit |
| Print distributed to recipients: brochures, reports, magazines, packaging, posters | Up to 500 000 printed copies per item and 12-month period |
| Paid digital advertising: paid social, display, online video, in-app | Up to 500 000 impressions per item and 12-month period |
| Screens and print at your own premises, and your own stand at a fair or event | No limit |
| Editorial use in digital and print media | Within the print limit |
The caps apply per licensed item and per rolling 12-month period, regardless of how the use is divided into campaigns or media plans. Use beyond a cap requires a Custom licence.
The licence may be transferred to one end client, once. An agency using the same material for more than one client needs one licence per client, or a Custom licence.
Commercial does not cover, and requires a Custom licence:
- any placement you bought or rented as advertising space in public physical space: billboards, digital screens in public buildings and transport, airports, stations, vehicle and building wraps;
- broadcast television, cable, satellite, OTT and streaming services;
- cinema and theatrical release;
- physical products, merchandise or printed goods that are sold, and any use where the material is the main value of what is sold, such as wall art, prints and posters for resale;
- print or paid advertising beyond the caps above.
The test for public space: if you paid someone for the placement, it needs a Custom licence. If it is your own wall, your own screen or your own stand, Commercial covers it.
2.5 Custom — quote
Covers everything excluded from Commercial, plus exclusivity, buyout, agency multi-client rights, AI training, and editorial use of material marked “Not available for purchase”.
Priced per use on placement, format, prominence, term and market. A Custom licence for a single placement is normally granted for a fixed term rather than perpetually.
Contact hello@northpix.se with the intended use, placement, format, term and market, or use the quote form on any product page. Quotes are issued within two working days.
2.6 Restrictions, all licences
You may not:
- resell, sublicense, share or redistribute the material as standalone files;
- use the material for machine learning, artificial intelligence training, dataset creation, or any automated model development;
- incorporate the material into a competing stock service, media library or template library;
- use the material in a logo, trademark or other mark of origin, or attempt to register any right in it;
- use the material in a way that is defamatory, pornographic, or that presents an identifiable person, property or organisation in a false or offensive light;
- use the material in a political campaign, or in connection with a sensitive subject such as health, addiction, crime or sexuality in a way that implies a depicted person is connected to that subject, without a Custom licence and written consent.
Northpix does not license contributor material for AI training and does not permit third parties to scrape or ingest it for that purpose.
2.7 Credit
Where the material is used in an editorial or publishing context — articles, books, magazines, reports, documentaries, exhibitions — credit the creator as © [Creator name] / Northpix, adjacent to the material or in a credits section. The creator’s name is shown on the product page.
In advertising, marketing and internal use, credit is not required. It is appreciated where practical, and “Footage: Northpix” or “Photo: Northpix” in a video’s end credits or a page footer is enough.
The creator’s right to be named in accordance with good practice under the Swedish Copyright Act (1960:729, 3 §) is not affected by this agreement.
2.8 Reference
Northpix may name you as a customer, by company name and logo, on its website and in its own marketing. You may object at any time by email, and Northpix will stop within ten working days. Northpix will not describe the specific use or campaign without your written consent.
2.9 Releases and warranties
All material offered for purchase is cleared for commercial use: where an identifiable person appears, a signed model release is on file, obtained in accordance with GDPR, including guardian consent where the person was a minor at the time of recording.
Material for which no release exists is not offered for purchase. It is either unlisted, or shown as “Not available for purchase — contact us” and licensed only through Custom, for editorial use.
Northpix warrants that it has the right to grant the licence you purchase. Northpix gives no warranty that the material is fit for any particular purpose, and no warranty regarding third-party rights not covered by a release, including trademarks, designs, artwork and buildings visible in the material.
If a claim is made against you because Northpix did not hold the rights it granted, you shall notify Northpix in writing without undue delay and allow Northpix to take part in handling the claim. Northpix liability is in all circumstances limited to the licence fee you paid for the item concerned. This limitation does not apply to intent or gross negligence. No liability is accepted for indirect loss, lost profit or loss of goodwill.
2.10 Withdrawal of material
Northpix may withdraw material from sale at any time, for example if a release is revoked. Withdrawal does not affect your licence: you keep the right to continue and complete uses already made or in production. On written request you will stop new uses of that material.
2.11 Term, breach and refunds
The licence takes effect when payment is received and continues indefinitely, except where a Custom licence states a fixed term. It terminates only on material breach by you, in which case you must stop all use and delete the files.
Delivery is digital content made available immediately. Consumers expressly consent at checkout to immediate delivery and acknowledge that the statutory right of withdrawal under the Swedish Distance Contracts Act ends when delivery begins. The fee is therefore not refundable once the download link has been used. A technically defective file, or one that does not match its stated specification, is replaced or refunded.
2.12 Governing law and language
Swedish law applies. Disputes are heard by Luleå District Court as court of first instance.
This agreement is provided in Swedish and English. For customers domiciled in Sweden, the Swedish version is binding; for all other customers, the English version is binding.
